ElevenLabs pricing: one credit pool, five different burn rates

ElevenLabs names its unit, which already puts it ahead of most AI tools that don’t. A credit is a credit, and every tier tells you how many you get.

What the pricing page doesn’t put in one place is that a credit means a different amount of work depending on what you’re using it for. Text to speech, dubbing, voice cloning and music generation all draw from the same pool, and they empty it at rates that aren’t close to each other.

The Creator price on the page isn’t the Creator price

Right now the pricing page shows Creator at $11 a month with a “First month 50% off” badge sitting next to it. The standing price, the one you pay from month two onward, is $22. It’s clearly labeled as an intro discount rather than hidden, so this isn’t a dark pattern, but if you’re budgeting off the big number on the card, budget off $22, not $11.

A credit isn’t a fixed amount of anything

This is the part worth sitting with before you pick a tier. ElevenLabs publishes the exchange rate for each product, and they’re not close:

Run the math on Creator’s 121,000 monthly credits and the same allowance turns into very different amounts of output depending on what you’re doing with it: about 121,000 characters of text to speech, or roughly 366 minutes of speech-to-text transcription, or about 12 minutes of watermark-free Studio dubbing. Someone doing occasional TTS voiceovers and someone doing regular dubbing work are not getting the same $22 out of this plan, even though the credit count on the label is identical.

If you only use one product, this doesn’t matter much, price it against that product’s rate and move on. If you’re mixing TTS with dubbing or voice cloning, model your actual usage in credits before you pick a tier, because “121,000 credits” tells you almost nothing on its own.

Credits roll over, which most competitors don’t do

Unused credits carry into the next two billing cycles, capped at 3x your monthly quota (this month’s allotment plus up to two months of rollover). Downgrade or cancel and whatever’s unused is forfeited at the end of the cycle. It’s a real benefit for anyone with a spiky workload, a big dubbing project one month and nothing the next, and it’s more generous than the straight “use it or lose it” reset you’ll find on a lot of usage-based AI tools.

Annual billing is ten months, not a straight discount

Pay annually and you get two months free: the yearly charge is your monthly price times 10, spread across the year for a lower effective monthly rate.

That’s a flat structure, the same “2 months free” applies at every tier, rather than a discount that narrows as you go up the way Descript’s does.

The seat counts are bundled, not sold separately on the page

Scale includes 3 workspace seats, Business includes 10. Neither the pricing page nor the FAQ says what an extra seat beyond that costs, if that’s even purchasable outside of a custom Enterprise deal. If your team is 4 people and Scale’s 3 seats don’t cover you, that’s a question for sales before you commit, not something to assume a price for.

What it actually costs you

Figure out which product does most of your work first. Pure TTS users can price this cleanly off the character-per-credit rate. Anyone doing dubbing, voice cloning, or a mix of products should build a rough monthly credit budget from the table above before picking a tier, because the headline credit counts don’t compare across use cases the way they look like they should.

And budget off $22 for Creator, not the $11 the page shows you on a first visit.
