Quillbot pricing: the 'no limits' plan has five limits

Quillbot’s Premium page leads with “Achieve new heights when you write without limits.” Scroll to the actual comparison table below it and the Premium column lists four separate numeric ceilings, plus a fifth allowance that isn’t given a number at all.

“Write without limits” still has a word count on almost everything

Click through to the full feature comparison and Premium isn’t actually unmetered. It’s metered at higher numbers, which is a different thing:

• Plagiarism checking: 25,000 words a month
• Summarizer: 6,000 words per summary, versus 1,200 for the free plan
• AI image generation: 300 images a month, versus 3 a day free
• Document storage in Quillbot Flow: 100 MB, versus 10 MB free
• AI Chat: listed only as “Higher usage” — no number given anywhere on the page

Four of those are real numbers you can hit. The fifth just doesn’t say. If you’re a heavy AI Chat user deciding whether Premium covers your workload, the page that’s supposed to answer that question won’t tell you — you’d have to subscribe and find the ceiling yourself. Paraphrasing genuinely does look uncapped on Premium (the comparison table lists “Full access” with no word count), so the headline isn’t wrong for every feature. It’s wrong for the plan as a whole.

The 40% badge is real, and it expires the day I checked this

I did the arithmetic because a banner promising an exact percentage is easy to get slightly wrong on purpose:

That checks out — closer to accurate than Photoroom’s “Save 33%” badge, which averaged three different discounts into one number. Quillbot’s banner reads “Get 40% off Premium. Now through Sept 6.” I’m checking this on September 6. I can’t tell you whether the discount disappears tomorrow, renews under a new date, or was never going anywhere — only that the countdown on the page you’d land on today reads as if it’s the last day. If you’re comparing prices before buying, don’t anchor on $2.50 without confirming that number is still live when you actually check out.

The affiliate page advertises $20 per subscriber. The math gets you $10.

Quillbot runs its affiliate program through PartnerStack and states two figures on quillbot.com/affiliates: “up to 20% commission” and “up to $20 per subscriber.” Those two claims should be roughly the same number described two ways, so I checked whether they are.

Twenty percent of the regular annual Premium price ($4.17/mo x 12 = $50.04/yr) is $10.01. Twenty percent of the current promo price ($2.50/mo x 12 = $30/yr) is $6. Neither gets remotely close to $20 — you’d need a referred subscriber paying roughly $100/year before 20% produces a $20 payout, and nothing on the current pricing page charges that. Either the $20 figure describes a legacy price Quillbot no longer shows publicly, or it’s the kind of best-case headline number that doesn’t apply to the plan most visitors will actually see. The program’s own FAQ doesn’t resolve it either: asked “How long will I earn commissions for each subscriber?”, the answer is “The commission period will be stated in your specific affiliate partner’s group” — which tells you to go find the number somewhere else, after you’ve already signed up.

What is confirmed: free and instant signup, a 30-day cookie window, cross-device tracking, and payouts the month after a commission is earned (a February sale pays out March 16th, per the program’s own example).

What it actually costs you

$2.50/mo is a legitimately good price for Quillbot Premium if the sale is still live when you check out — cheaper than most of the paraphrasing and grammar tools in this category. Just don’t read “write without limits” as literal. Budget for the 25,000-word plagiarism ceiling and the 6,000-word summarizer cap if your use case is high-volume, and ask support directly what “Higher usage” on AI Chat means in practice before you rely on it for work. And if you’re the one referring people here rather than buying, the program’s real commission rate is closer to $6-10 per subscriber at current prices than the $20 figure on the page — worth knowing before you build a content plan around the bigger number.
